What is your Thought about One Whose Teacher is Allaah
In the name of Allaah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful. May Allaah's prayers of [forgiveness] and peace be upon every rational human who uses his mind to distinguish between those who say about Allaah that which they do not know, from among all the famous exegetes of conjectural interpretations [of the Qur’an], whom perhaps Allaah may forgive, He is indeed the All-Forgiving the Most Merciful. And when Nasser Mohammed al-Yamani [Arabic, from Yemen] reveals to you some of the secrets in the Quran, you will find your minds giving you a ruling with the truth confirming that the decisive truth that is not to be taken for amusement is with Nasser Mohammed al-Yamani —like it or not — and if you use your minds you shall certainly find it to be with Allaah's caliph al-Mahdi Nasser Mohammed al-Yamani. And I will clarify to you from the best of stories [in the Quran] a need within prophet Joseph, which he fulfilled, and a need within prophet Jacob which he fulfilled as well. As for the need within Joseph, is in the Word of Allaah the Exalted:
{Joseph said to his young assistants, ‘Put their [traded] goods back into their saddlebags, so that they may recognize them when they go back to their family, and [be eager to] return.’} 12:62
And that is because he knows that he has required something from them highlighted in the clear verses of Allaah the Exalted:
{Then when he had supplied them with their supplies, he said, “Bring me a brother of yours from your father. Do you not see that I fill up the measure, and I am the best of hosts? (59) But if you do not bring him to me ˹next time˺, I will have no grain for you, nor will you ever come close to me again.” (60) They said, ‘We shall do all we can to persuade his father to send him with us, indeed we shall.’(61)} 12:59-61
Subsequently, the requirement of Allaah's prophet Joseph is clear; no grain for them nor will they ever come close to him again unless they bring him a half-brother of them from their father's side to prove their credibility. To explain, he asked them about the number of grownups in addition to their parents, and they replied: “We are ten full-brothers, but we also have one [half] brother from our father's side”, then Joseph ordered them: “Swear by Allaah that you have a brother from your father's side ” and they did. Afterwards, Joseph told them: “I shall give you a camel-load of grain”, and after they were prepared he told them: “Bring your brother from your father's side next time, as I have believed your oath. But, if you did not, you are liars”, in line with the Word of Allaah the Exalted:
{But if you do not bring him to me ˹next time˺, I will have no grain for you, nor will you ever come close to me again.” (60) They said, ‘We shall do all we can to persuade his father to send him with us, indeed we shall.’(61)} 12:60-61
But Joseph is aware of the inevitable response of their father with blunt refusal, would he entrust him to them as he entrusted them his brother before? Nay! Once bitten, twice shy. Besides, Joseph wanted to send with them a hidden message to draw the attention of Jacob—his father— that Allaah has fulfilled his [Joseph] vision of empowerment and that Aziz e Misr [ Arabic, the Mighty Governor of Egypt] is Joseph —his son— for him to send with his other half brothers his full-brother [Benjamin], and Allaah the Exalted Said:
{The King said, “Bring him to me. I will employ him exclusively in my service.” And when Joseph spoke to him, the King said, “Today you are highly esteemed and fully trusted by us.”(54) Joseph said, ‘Put me in charge of the nation’s storehouses: I shall manage them prudently and carefully.’ (55) Thus did We give established power to Joseph in the land, to take possession therein as, when, or where he pleased. We bestow of our Mercy on whom We please, and We suffer not, to be lost, the reward of those who do good. (56) And the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believed and were fearing Allah. (57) Joseph’s brothers came and presented themselves before him. He recognized them- though they did not recognize him- (58) Then when he had supplied them with their supplies, he said, “Bring me a brother of yours from your father. Do you not see that I fill up the measure, and I am the best of hosts? (59) But if you do not bring him to me ˹next time˺, I will have no grain for you, nor will you ever come close to me again.” (60) They said, ‘We shall do all we can to persuade his father to send him with us, indeed we shall.’(61)} 12:54-61
So see the need within Joseph which he fulfilled through the hidden message by returning their money secretly into their saddlebags so that they would be taken aback at their parents when they realise that their money had been given back to them so that Jacob believes that the Mighty Governor of Egypt truly asked for his son. Therefore, the message was delivered to Jacob within— that nobody did so except Joseph their brother as they had not been aware of Joseph's vision before. To add, before Jacob knows that their supplies were given back to them he bluntly refused to let them go back with their half-brother from their father's side because he thought at first that it is a scheme from them to act treacherously toward Joseph's brother like they did to Joseph himself before, as why would Egypt's Governor want their brother from their father's side?! And that is why Jacob said in the Word of Allaah the Exalted:
{He said, ‘Am I to entrust him to you as I did his brother before? Allaah is the best guardian and the Most Merciful of the merciful.’ (64) When they opened their bags, they discovered that their money had been returned to them. They argued, “O our father! What more can we ask for? Here is our money, fully returned to us. Now we can buy more food for our family. We will watch over our brother, and obtain an extra camel-load of grain. That load can be easily secured.” (65) He said, “I will not send him with you unless you give me a binding pledge before Allah that you will most surely bring him back to me unless you get trapped.” So when they gave him their binding pledge, he said, “Allah is the Ultimate Trustee over what we say.” (66)} 12:64-66
Afterwards, Jacob wanted to fulfil a wish within himself so he provides an opportunity to Joseph to be alone with his brother to speak to him, that is why Jacob said in the Word of Allaah the Exalted:
{And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allah at all. The decision is only for Allah; upon Him, I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely." (67) And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allah at all except [it was] a need within the soul of Jacob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most people do not know. (68) And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his brother to himself; he said, "Indeed, I am your (full) brother, so do not despair over what they used to do [to me]." (69)} 12:67-69
And that is why Allaah described Jacob as a possessor of intelligent understanding of the message of the glad tidings about his son—Joseph— through the inspiration of apprehension from Allaah, that is why Allaah the Exalted Said:
{And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allah at all except [it was] a need within the soul of Jacob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most of the people do not know. (68)} 12:68
however, apprehension lies within the self until its proof is manifested in actual reality or through a power of knowledge from Allaah in a Book revealed by Him to teach the one who has been inspirationally apprehended that the process was based on true inspiration from Allaah and not just a whisper from his inner self or the lurking whisperer who whispers into the hearts of people owing to demonic possessions
Indeed, afflatus apprehension is an inspiration from Allaah but requires a clear power of knowledge from the Quran by which mind and logic fully surrender to its genuineness, the same way your minds surrendered to this clarifying-statement of mine about the wisdom behind putting their money secretly into their saddlebags. Contemplate the conjectural interpretations in which mind and logic will reject that Joseph's brothers will go back for having the money which was returned to them, as the wisdom within Joseph was not related to this at all. How strange is it that exegeses forgot that the problem was not in the lack of money! On the contrary, the problem Jacob, Allaah's prophet, had was in not entrusting Joseph's brother to them like he did entrust to them Joseph himself before. In this way, Joseph—Allaah's prophet— wanted to make his father believe his sons when he finds them surprised that their money had been given back to them and they did not notice until they opened up their saddlebags at their house in the presence of their father. Consequently, their father believes their story of denying measuring their seeds until they bring a brother from their father's side; then Jacob realises that it is Joseph— their brother — who ordered them to bring his brother, not only this but also Jacob was certain at the beginning due to Allaah's afflatus apprehension of Jacob within his heart and for that specific reason he was waiting for the return of Joseph's full brother with the glad tidings of finding Joseph safe and sound—the Mighty Governor of Egypt — to open up an opportunity for Joseph to speak to his brother alone, and Jacob did truly fulfil his wish within when they [his sons] entered unto Joseph from different gates; therefore, he provided an opportunity for Joseph to speak alone with his full brother even though Jacob pretended to be afraid lest they be inflicted with evil-eyes in case they enter from the same gate as looking like brothers. But Jacob knows that in situations like this believers put their trust in Allaah and whoever places his trust in Allaah—He will suffice him and he will not avail them anything against Allaah, so the whole thing was a wish within Jacob which he fulfilled to provide an opportunity for Joseph to speak alone with his brother; ergo the last bears the good news for Jacob so that all of them come to Joseph, notwithstanding, it was not yet the time for them to enter unto Joseph in humiliation to complain to him about being touched and their family with harm, and ask him for charity while they are debased but Joseph has been given power and honour in line with Allaah's promise to Joseph through afflatus apprehension [from Allaah to Joseph's heart] after they subjugated him and left him in the hidden depths of a well on the way of convoys travelling to Egypt, and that is why Allaah said:
{فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُوا بِهِ وَأَجْمَعُوا أَن يَجْعَلُوهُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الْجُبِّ ۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم بِأَمْرِهِمْ هَٰذَا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿١٥﴾}
{Then they took him away with them, resolved upon throwing him into the hidden depths of a well- We inspired him, saying, ‘You will tell them of all this [at a time] when they do not realize [who you are]!’-} 12:15
Meaning that they would not realise that he is Joseph — their brother — until he informed them of their betrayal of him by throwing him into the hidden depths of a well, certainly this is Allaah's promise which He never breaks His promise. And the time for fulfilling the promise has come while they are debased entreating the Mighty Governor of Egypt to give them their supplies in full as they have come with goods poor in quality and sold them in the market for little money that would not suffice for the required price of wheat. For that specific reason, they entreated Joseph to give them their supplies out of charity not knowing that he is Joseph—their brother— until he reminded them of their betrayal of him in the hidden depths of a well which no one was aware of the incident except for Joseph and his 10 half brothers
And the fulfilment of Allaah's promise to Joseph has come; reflected in the Word of Allaah the Exalted:
{Then they took him away with them, resolved upon throwing him into the hidden depths of a well- We inspired him, saying, ‘You will tell them of all this [at a time] when they do not realize [who you are]!’-} 12:15
Also, Allaah the Exalted Said:
{So when they entered upon Joseph, they said, "O 'Mighty Governor of Egypt, adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with goods poor in quality, but give us full measure and be charitable to us. Indeed, Allah rewards the charitable." (88)He said, "Do you know what you did with Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant?"(89) They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favoured us. Indeed, he who fears Allah and is patient, then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good." (90) They said, "By Allah, certainly has Allah preferred you over us, and indeed, we have been sinners." (91) He said, "No blame will there be upon you today. Allah will forgive you, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." (92) Take this, my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father; he will become seeing. And bring me your family, all together." (93) And when the caravan departed, their father said: "I do indeed feel the smell of Joseph, if only you think me not a dotard (a person who has weakness of mind because of old age)." (94) They replied, “By Allah! You are definitely still in your old delusion.” (95) } 12:88-95
And the reason why Jacob's wife described Allaah's prophet as a dotard is that he told her he is waiting for the glad tidings of Joseph's existence, his sons, per contra came to him without Joseph's full brother on the pretext of him stealing so he was arrested by the Mighty Governor of Egypt [Joseph]. At that point, Jacob received a psychological shock counter to his expectations which caused his eyes to be whitened with sorrow since he was waiting for Benjamin [Joseph's full brother] to give him glad tidings of Joseph's existence, but the shock was too jarring to be handled by Jacob ergo affected his state of mind, that is why Allaah the Exalted Said:
{And he turned away from them and said: Alas, my grief for Joseph! And his eyes were whitened with the sorrow that he was suppressing. (84) They said, “(We swear) by Allah, you will continue remembering Joseph until you become totally drained or become of those annihilated.” (85) He said, “Indeed, I only complain of my anguish and grief to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.” (86)} 12:84-86
And this response was in the wake of the afflatus apprehension from Allaah to Jacob —after the aghast— to assure to him that the one who caught Benjamin is Joseph himself —the Mighty Governor of Egypt — as he is afraid [lest his half brothers kill or throw Benjamin in the far depths of a well in their way back to their father] after proving their credibility by bringing a half brother of theirs [Benjamin]. Having said that, Jacob after the shock revealed the secret to his wife and children that the Mighty Governor of Egypt who took their brother Benjamin from them for fearing for him lest they hurt him is their brother Joseph, that is why he said:
{“O my children, go and ask around about Joseph and his brother and do not despair of Allah’s leniency, for certainly none despair of Allah’s leniency except the denying people.” (87) Then when they presented themselves before him, they said, “O mighty governor, harm has touched us and our family and we have brought scant merchandise, but give us full measure and be charitable towards us; indeed, Allah rewards the charitable ones.” (88) He said, ‘Do you now realize what you did to Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant?’ (89) They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favoured us. Indeed, he who fears Allah and is patient, then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good." (90)} 12:87-90
However, his wife gainsaid his claim and argued with him describing him as a dotard whose mind has become similar to a baby's claiming that Joseph is definitely not the Mighty Governor of Egypt! She and her ten children see that this notion of Jacob is going to happen on the first of never! How would Joseph reach such stature? She unequivocally knows that his half-brothers threw him in the far depths of a well when he was young and some travellers may have picked him up and sold him in a slave market. If he is still alive and kicking, then he must be a slave owned by somebody not the Mighty Governor of Egypt, as the difference is huge between an owned slave and the Mighty Governor of Egypt. That being the case, she used to hugely gainsay his claims and argue with him in regards to this delusion—in her point of view — accordingly, Jacob was accustomed to this from her, that is why Allaah the Exalted Said:
{And as soon as the caravan departed, their father said, “I sense the scent of Joseph, though you may deem me senile.” (94) They said, “By Allaah, you are still in your old fallacy!” (95) So when the herald of glad tidings arrived, he cast it over his face and he regained his sight. He said, “Did I not say to you, ‘Indeed, I know from Allah what you know not.’”? (96)} 12:94-96
Because what Jacob told them about Joseph came true and it was cleared to them that he was alive and truly the Mighty Governor of Egypt like what he told them after the counter psychological shock from joyfulness to sadness, thence Allaah has inspired to his heart that what He has communicated to him through inspiration before is the truth, therefore, Jacob retrieved his firm faith [in Joseph being alive] and said:
{“O my children, go and ask around about Joseph and his brother and do not despair of Allah’s leniency, for certainly none despair of Allah’s leniency except the denying people.” (87)} 12:87
Howbeit, all of Jacob's knowledge was based on a vision from Allaah to Joseph —Jacob's son— highlighted in the Word of Allaah the Exalted:
{Recall when Joseph said to his father, “O my father, I saw eleven planets and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me.”} 12:4
Then the fulfilment of the vision with the truth is reflected in the Word of Allaah the Exalted:
{And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration. And he said, "O my father, this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality. And He was certainly good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you [here] from bedouin life after Satan had induced [estrangement] between me and my brothers. Indeed, my Lord is Subtle in what He wills. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise. (100)} 12:100
